Dear LC Community, It was my hope that an extra day off this weekend would slow down our COVID spike. Unfortunately, it has not. We have had some teachers notify us today that they tested positive over the weekend as well as a few notify us today of a positive result today. In addition to the staff, we've had more students test positive as of today. When they test positive, their siblings must go home as well. This has caused a major hit to our attendance. For this reason, I have decided to close the school down starting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 19th - Friday, January 21st. We will have normal school hours as of today. School will resume like normal on Monday, January 24th. During this closure, the school will get a deep cleaning. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause but we need everyone to get better so the school can get back to normal. An automated all-call phone call will be sent out at some point today to notify you of this information as well. Josh Johnson Superintendent

PARENTS: Leverett’s Chapel ISD is looking for parents to become involved in the SHAC. SHAC is the school health advisory council. SHACs are volunteer groups of parents, community members, and school staff. The majority of SHAC members must be parents who do not work at the school. SHAC ensures that community values are reflected in health education. SHAC is the parent’s voice to the school about health education. SHAC meets at least 4 times during the school year. Our SHAC will be meeting in January to discuss what SHAC is and the new state law for next year’s sexual health curriculum. If you’re interested, please email Nurse Amy at athompson@leverettschapelisd.net or call 903-834-3181 X507.
